VISIONLAND REPEATS WINS
AT THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF AMUSEMENT PARKS AND ATTRACTIONS CONVENTION IN ATLANTA
|
Birmingham, AL (November 29, 1999)-VisionLand competed in three different competitions at this year's International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Convention (IAAPA) in Atlanta, Georgia and won several awards in each competitions! VisionLand competed against amusement parks such as Six Flags and Disney World and showed outstanding achievements in the Brass Ring Awards, the Spirit of Excellence Awards and the Excellence in Merchandising Awards competitions.
The Brass Ring Awards acknowledges outstanding marketing and public relations achievements in amusement parks. In the category for amusement parks with 250,001-500,000 people, VisionLand won 1st place for its outdoor signage, 2nd place for its media kit, and 2nd place for its print advertising.
The Spirit of Excellence Award competition recognizes an outstanding commitment to the development of people in the amusement industry.
The Spirit of Excellence award honors excellent human resource training and handbooks given to employees. VisionLand's food department won this award for "The Best-On-The-Job Training", and Margaret Leonard, VisionLand's assistant manager of food service, won the coveted "Service Excellence Award" for providing the largest contribution to training and motivating her employees.
The Excellence in Merchandising competition honors the best park merchandise. Andre Taylor, director of merchandise at VisionLand, won 1st place for "Souvenir of the Year" for the second time in two years. This year, he was honored for VisionLand's Steely Mascot T-shirt, which was voted best in the Children's category. |
