Steely the dog arrived at VisionLand in April 1999. He was imemediatly proclaimed the "long awaited mascot". Steely is the perfect park mascot. He's a steelworker dog that symbolizes the steel industry in Birmingham. Rumor has it that Steely has been wandering the area, possibly lost in the mines, searching for a home with lots of children.

Steely, dressed in overalls, a hard hat and tool belt can be seen at VisionLand on Main Street greeting young children as they enter the park, and throughout the other rides areas of the park.
